some candid pix from Jennifer Dale at the March recording session:

note the natty attire and and hairstyles....

Left: Calvin and Hobbes ponder their next Fiendish Plot; Right: John and Thom compare bald spots...

This album of mostly new compositions came about after John Partanen and Iain Sherwood began swapping tunes a few years ago. Of the twenty-nine tunes on the CD, only two are by other composers. We hope you'll like this selection of new music for the pipe.

JOHN PARTANEN plays a 1912 Lawrie bagpipe with a 1990 Naill chanter, Wygent Mk I™drone reeds and Megarity-Ross chanter reed.

IAIN SHERWOOD plays a 2001 reproduction J&R Glen bagpipe with a Kintail 2000 chanter, Wygent Duatone™ drone reeds and a Frater chanter reed.

Recorded and edited at Coast Recorders, San Francisco, Ca., March 29 and July 19, 2003, by Thom Canova. Our thanks to Thom and Dave; Jennifer Dale for moral support and lunch; Molly Partanen, Karen Sherwood, the Duke of Hamilton, Cheeky, Chee Johnson, Bittles, Brian Donaldson, and all those who influenced our compositions; our respective teachers; and our colleagues in the Piobaireachd Society for their constructive criticism. A special thanks to Greig, Drew, and Stephen Sharp at Kintail for all their fine work on both our sets of bagpipes.

This album is dedicated to the memory of Iain's brother,

CAPTAIN CHARLES SHERWOOD III USMC (1941-2002)
